We’re thrilled to introduce our new sub-brand, Northernly by EllieBeanPrints! This exciting venture is more than just another collection; it’s a reflection of our love of the outdoors and the deep bond we have with the North of England. Northernly captures the rugged beauty, rich culture, and unique character of this region, which has always been an integral part of our story.
EllieBeanPrints began over a decade ago, right here in Yorkshire, shortly after the birth of our first child, Ellie. Our goal from the start was to create distinctive, high-quality gifts for cycling, running, and outdoor enthusiasts—a natural extension of the lifestyle we hold dear. Over the years, we’ve grown steadily, building strong relationships with gift shops, cycling cafés, and running communities that share our passion for the outdoors.
As our business has evolved, so has our creative direction. Based in Thirsk, surrounded by the breathtaking Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, the influence of the North—and our affection for the Highlands—has always shaped our work. With Northernly, we’re able to channel this inspiration more directly into a brand that truly embodies the spirit of Northern life.
The name Northernly felt like the perfect fit for our new sub-brand. It’s a nod to the direction we’ve always looked for inspiration: North. Whether it’s the wild fells, rolling hills, picturesque market towns, or vibrant cities, Northern England isn’t just a place—it’s a way of life. It’s a region where community is at the heart of everything, and where the landscape is as diverse and beautiful as the people who live here.
Northernly encapsulates all of this. It’s our commitment to creating products that represent the essence of the North—whether that’s a love of adventure, a deep connection to nature, or the distinct humour that’s so quintessentially Yorkshire. We’re confident that our customers will appreciate this unique combination of tradition, craftsmanship, and creativity.
Ahead of Northernly’s full launch, we introduced our Engraved Olive Wood Boards in a soft launch, and they quickly became a favourite. These boards, crafted from sustainably sourced olive wood, beautifully balance functionality with artistic design.
The success of this soft launch affirmed our belief that Northernly’s thoughtful design, paired with natural materials, resonates deeply with our customers. It’s just the beginning, and we’re excited to expand this range with even more products that celebrate the outdoors...
A standout addition to the Northernly collection is our Three Peaks Slate Coasters. These coasters proudly feature Yorkshire’s finest peaks—Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough, and Whernside—beautifully etched into rich, blackened slate. Designed for those who feel connected to Yorkshire’s iconic landscapes, these coasters are both practical and nostalgic, bringing a touch of Northern adventure into your home.
With Northernly, we’re expanding our product range to showcase everything we love about the North. Expect to see more slate coasters etched with the contours of iconic peaks, tote bags, and keyrings that highlight the warmth and wit of Yorkshire dialect. As always, each product will be crafted with the same dedication to quality and attention to detail that has defined EllieBeanPrints from the start.
While Northernly marks a new chapter in our story, our core values and commitment remain unchanged. We’ll continue to design, print, and create from our studio as EllieBeanPrints, bringing you thoughtfully made gifts, cards, and homeware that are as meaningful as they are beautiful.
